Your flight will arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport. From there you will leave for Anuradhapura. First we will visit Ruwenwelisaya. It is one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in Sri Lanka. We can spend an hour exploring this serene and peaceful Stupa. Then we will head over to Kuttam Pokuna, also known as the Twin Ponds. You can take your time admiring the impressive design of these pools and learning about their rich history. The next visit will be Sri Maha Bodhiya. This temple is home to a sacred Bodhi tree. You can spend some time admiring and exploring its surroundings. In the afternoon we will visit Ranmasu Uyana, a scenic park next to the Isurumuniya temple. This park is home to several ancient ruins, including a moon stone and the Ratnaprasada (Golden Palace).
After a hearty breakfast, we will leave for Kandy. First we will visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. It houses a relic of Buddha’s tooth and is regarded as one of the most sacred places in Sri Lanka. Next, we can take a stroll around Kandy lake. This artificial lake was built in 1807 and is a popular spot to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings. You can also go on a boat ride on the lake. Next we will visit the Royal Botanical Garden. It boasts a diverse collection of plants and flowers. We can take a leisurely walk around the garden and marvel at the beauty of nature. In the evening, we can enjoy a cup of freshly brewed tea while reflecting on the visit to these amazing sights.
After breakfast, leave for Tissamaharama. Start your day with a visit to Tissa Lake, which is an excellent spot for bird watching and enjoying the sunrise. You can take a boat ride to explore the area. Next, head to the Tissamaharama Raja Maha Viharaya, a famous Buddhist temple. Take some time to explore the temple and appreciate the stunning architecture before moving on to the next destination. Visit the Yatala Dalada Wehera, which features the ruins of an ancient stupa and other structures that are over 2000 years old. The site offers a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the region.
After breakfast, we will leave for Hambantota. On the way we will head over to Yala National Park. It is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries in Sri Lanka. It is home to a variety of animals such as leopards, elephants, sloth bears and crocodiles. We will take a keep safari in the Yala National Park and explore its diverse landscapes from dense jungles to open grasslands. Next we will visit Kirinda beach. It is a stunning stretch of golden sand with crystal-clear waters and is surrounded by lush greenery.
Start your day by driving to the Dry Zone Botanical Garden and spend the morning exploring the stunning flora and fauna. You can take a guided tour through the garden or enjoy a peaceful walk on your own. Next, head to the Hot Water Springs. You can soak in the warm mineral water to relax your muscles and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the hot springs. Afterwards, visit the Birds Park and enjoy the spectacular bird shows, explore the aviaries and interact with the birds in the park.
After breakfast, we will visit the Hummanaya Blowhole in Dikwella. It is the second largest blowhole in the world and can be quite spectacular to watch. After visiting the blowhole, we will head to Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can explore the narrow streets lined with colonial buildings, visit the impressive Dutch Reformed Church, and walk along the ramparts for great views of the ocean. Next, we will visit the Turtle Hatchery in Habaraduwa. Here you can see baby turtles being hatched and released into the ocean. This hatchery plays a vital role in protecting and conserving the sea turtles, which are often endangered.
In the morning, after breakfast, we would leave for Colombo. First we will visit the Colombo National Museum, which is the largest museum in Sri Lanka. It houses a collection of artifacts that showcase the cultural, historical and natural heritage of the country. After exploring the museum, we will head over to Viharamahadevi Park, which is located in the heart of the city. This park is a popular spot with its lush greenery, walking trails, and beautiful fountains. The next stop will be Independence Square, a significant landmark that commemorates Sri Lanka’s independence from British rule. After that you will visit the Galle Face Green. It is an ocean side urban park which stretches for 500m along the coast.Finally, after a few shopping visits, have time at leisure until it’s time to proceed to the airport for your flight back home.
